Hi, I’m Alex — welcome to Korea Knowhow Guide.
I live in Korea and have spent many years running businesses here, while also spending a lot of time in Australia. That back-and-forth taught me exactly where visitors to Korea get stuck: paying without a Korean bank card, figuring out which apps actually work, getting around outside Seoul, and navigating things like tax refunds or medical and dental visits.
This site is my attempt to fix that. Every guide here is written from first-hand experience on the ground in Korea — the practical, step-by-step know-how I wish someone had handed my overseas friends and family before they arrived.
What you’ll find here:
- Getting around: transport cards, trains, taxis and navigation apps
- Money and payments: cards, cash, tax refunds and everyday costs
- Staying connected: SIM cards, eSIMs and essential apps
- Medical and dental travel: what to expect when visiting a clinic in Korea
- Local tips: food, neighborhoods and seasonal travel
I keep guides updated when rules, prices or apps change. If you spot something out of date, or have a question about traveling in Korea, I’d love to hear from you through the Contact page.
Enjoy your trip — and see you in Korea!
— Alex
